Traditional Greek Dakos Salad

A refreshing, traditional Greek dish made with juicy tomatoes, creamy cheese, and rich Speira Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Perfect for summer – no cooking needed!

Ingredients (for 2 servings):

  • 2 Cretan barley rusks (dakos)
  • 2 ripe tomatoes
  • 100g feta cheese or Cretan mizithra
  • 1 small cucumber (optional)
  • 1 tbsp capers
  • 4–5 Kalamata olives
  • 2 tbsp Speira Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • Dried oregano
  • Salt to taste

Instructions:

  1. Lightly moisten the rusks with water so they soften slightly but remain crunchy in the center.
  2. Grate or finely chop the tomatoes and place them on top of the rusks.
  3. Crumble the cheese over the tomatoes.
  4. Add the olives, capers, and thin cucumber slices (if using).
  5. Drizzle generously with Speira Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
  6. Sprinkle with dried oregano and a pinch of salt.

Let it sit for a few minutes to allow the flavors to soak into the rusks — then enjoy!
